Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Who can participate?
There are no real physical limitations to who can participate. You don’t need to be in extraordinary physical condition; as long as you are willing to listen to instructions and trust our staff. Everything you do will be at your own skill level.
Is there an age restriction?
Sam Keen, author of “Learning to Fly”, took up flying trapeze just before his 62nd birthday. He became quite accomplished. Children must be 6 or older.
Is it safe?
We make your safety our number one priority. We use state-of–the-art equipment and procedures to assure the safety of our students from the moment they walk into the Aerialdrome.
All of our equipment is designed to be well above standards of safety and is constantly maintained. You will be fitted with a belt attached to lines to protect you when you are on the flying trapeze or the trampoline. You will either have a net or mats below you during any trapeze or aerial class. You will be supervised by our professional staff at all times.
What should I expect for my first class?
We ask that you arrive at least 15 – 20 minutes before your first class so that we can get you through the registration process without cutting into your class time. It is preferable that you warm up your body before flying trapeze. Light stretching and aerobic movement is best. All other classes include a warm up and cool down. If you are unsure of what to do to warm yourself up, please ask a staff member for some quick pointers. We will happily advise you.
What should I wear?
Tights, yoga pants or snug sweat pants work well, as long as they are not too baggy or too long. Form-fitting shirts with sleeves (long or short) are required. Shoes are not permitted on the mats or any apparatus. If you have long hair, put it up with an elastic band. Remove all jewelery. Clothing with buttons, snaps, zippers, rivets, and metal accessories is not allowed.
If you are taking a flying trapeze class for the first time, please bring a pair of socks and choose appropriate clothing that covers your knees.
How long are the classes?
Flying Trapeze classes typically last 2 hours, other classes are 60-90 minutes. Please check the the online schedule for class times and availability.
How large are the classes?
Trapeze and aerial classes accommodate up to 10 participants at a time. Yoga, Pilates, dance, and ground skills classes can be larger. If you prefer more individual attention, please inquire through our website to schedule a private with your favorite instructor.
What’s the deal with the Open Gym?
We invite students and professionals alike to attend open gym with us a few times a week. You may bring your own apparatus to hang and work on, or use something of ours. If you are bringing in your own apparatus we will do a brief inspection of your rigging and put it up for you. If you are new to our space, you must get instructor approval before working out. New open gym participants are approved through a short session with an instructor for the regular open gym fee of $15 or $75 for a month and a one time registration fee of $22. If you are approved, then you may stay and work out. If you are not approved, your open gym fee can be applied to our “Intro to Aerial” class series. Please check the online schedule for Open Gym and Intro to Aerial class times.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you have preregistered and must reschedule, we ask you notify us. We understand unforeseen circumstances can cause changes in anyone’s schedule, however in the unfortunate event that you have to cancel within 36 hours, there will be a $20 cancellation fee.
