Summer Camp FAQ
ECTA Summer Camp – FAQ’s Is it Safe? Yes! At Emerald City Trapeze, we pride ourselves on safety with professionally trained instructors as well as world-class safety equipment. All flying trapeze participants will be fitted with a safety belt and will not leave the ground without being attached to a rescue device similar to rock climbing. All other apparatus’ will be closely monitored with the use of mats and instructors spotting and coaching.
What activities will be offered? Kids and youth will have a specialized program covering many areas of circus arts including Flying Trapeze, Aerial Arts, Trampoline and Tumbling, Dance and Movement, Costuming and Makeup and so much more!
Can parents stay and watch? We welcome parents to stay for the first 10 – 15 minutes of the program to help the children settle in for the day. After that, we find that it’s easier on both the children and the parents to let the instructors take over and do what they do best. At the end of the Summer Camp, parents, friends and other family members will be invited to attend a Circus Show presented by the campers to display all the activities they have learned throughout the week! If you wish to view a particular activity before the show, a scheduled viewing time can be arranged in advance with our front desk.
Can we see the Studio and activities before making a paid booking? Yes! Please feel free to come visit the studio between 9:30am to 9:30pm, 7 days a week. If you would like a formal tour please call 206-906-9442 to schedule your time to visit!
How many instructors will there be? ECTA will be allocating one professional circus instructor to every 8 children to ensure the daily group size is safe and manageable.
Is there a discount for having both/more of my children attend? ECTA is happy to offer a 10% discount to siblings!
I can’t pick my child up right at the end of class, do you offer extended stay? Due to our class schedule following Camp, we do not have staff available to supervise extended stay. Parents will be billed at the rate of $25/15 minutes for overage. If lateness becomes an ongoing issue, parents will be asked to make other arrangements for their child’s pickup.
Will lunch be provided? Meals are not provided by ECTA, but there will be ample time each day for students to break for lunch. Parents are expected to provide a healthy bag lunch, snacks and a water bottle each day. ECTA will have filtered water in pitchers available for bottle refill.
What is the Refund Policy? Cancelations are penalty-free with more than 48-hours’ notice of starting camp session. Full amount will be returned to student’s account (no refunds). Cancel up to 1 week prior to the start of the first day of class to receive credit in your student account. Cancelations made within 1 week of the start of camp will incur a $100 penalty. Refund will be given as credit in your student account. No refunds will be made once camp begins.
What if my child is scared of heights? At ECTA, we have had the honor of helping thousands of students overcome a sometimes debilitating fear of heights. We work with each student individually to help them through their journey up the ladder, take-off and swing. For most students, we find that the first time is definitely the hardest, and once we’ve helped them through that challenge, the FUN takes over!!
Can I drop my child off early? Instructors will be on site 15 minutes prior to the start of each camp day. The doors will not open earlier than 15 minutes before class time. We strongly recommend NOT leaving your child outside the locked doors unattended. If you require more information, please contact our front desk at 206-906-9442.
What should I do if I know we are going to be late? Give our front desk a call at 206-906-9442 as soon as possible so we can let the instructors know that you will be arriving after the start time.
Does my child need experience in gymnastics, dance or tumbling? No experience is necessary for ANY of our Circus Camps! Come one, come all!
