Summer Circus Camp 2020!

 

We are excited to announce our new partnership with SANCA! As Emerald City Trapeze Arts continues to grow and expand, we have crafted new and exciting opportunities for our students. SANCA is a premier circus school and national leader in youth circus, and we are thrilled to announce that all Circus Summer Camps will take place at SANCA with their specialty programing, incredible staff, and professional level equipment. We are passing the torch!

SANCA Camp Registration is Open!

SANCA offers an extensive day camp program for children age 6 and up. Our day camps allow students to develop physical skills, increase confidence, build self-esteem and get physically fit.
• No previous experience necessary to enroll in Core Generalist Circus Arts camps
• Core Generalist camps are beginning level
• ALL five-day camps include Flying Trapeze
• Specialty camps may have prerequisites.
• Our student to instructor ratio is 8:1 for maximum safety and fun.
• Full-day camps are 9am – 3pm.

General Circus Camps

Circus Odyssey:

[ages 6-8] An introduction to the wonders of circus arts for our youngest aspiring circus artists! Campers will develop increased body awareness through tumbling and balancing their bodies, work collaboratively in group activities including ring passing and partner acrobatics, and experience the exhilaration of soaring through the air on flying trapeze.  Campers will end the week by developing a short demonstration for family and friends! Full day camp with general Circus Arts & Flying Trapeze for $520

Circus Ringmasters:

[ages 9-12] Campers will be presented with a wonderful introduction to many different circus   disciplines while working together in their groups to explore the joys of everything that SANCA has to offer! From Juggling to tumbling, aerial fabric to flying trapeze, there is so much to enjoy about circus camp. Each week will end with a skills demonstration for family and friends! Full day camp with general Circus Arts & Flying Trapeze, emphasis on creative exploration for $520

Big Top Circus:

[ages 13-17] A great introduction for older campers new to circus arts, students will cultivate a wealth of circus skills in this multidisciplinary, generalist camp. By exploring a wide range of circus activities including aerial arts, acrobatics, equilibristics, object manipulation, german wheel and flying trapeze, campers will end the week having developed a broad foundation of circus skills which will be highlighted in a creative demonstration for family and friends! Full day camp with general Circus Arts & Flying Trapeze for $520

Camps with Inclusion

[ages 6-17] For students who may need extra support emotionally, socially, or behaviorally, we pair a trained aide to support your camper to succeed in a safe, fun environment. The emphasis is on inclusion, social skills and learning circus skills. Offered as an addition to an above camp. Tuition: camp tuition plus $300

Note:  We have one aide per week of camp and as a result, our capacity to offer this service is limited.  Interested families should fill out an Every Body’s Camp Questionnaire to schedule an intake meeting with our Clinical Coordinator.


SANCA Specialty Camp

(Specialty) Acrobatics:

[ages 9-12 & 13-17] For older students with some experience in tumbling and acrobatics looking to develop their skills, come bounce off the walls in our tumbling, trampoline and acrobatics specialty camp! Building upon acrobatic fundamentals including handstands, cartwheels and round-offs, campers will progress to work on drills for more advanced skills including walkovers, handsprings, group acrobatics and flipping in safety-lines. Camp will culminate with campers developing a group acrobatics act to be shared with family and friends.  Full day camp with general Circus Arts andAcrobatics Specialization, includes Flying Trapeze for $540. Prerequisites: Completion of a session of SANCA tumbling or trampoline class or instructor approval, at the time of enrollment.

(Specialty) Aerial Fundamentals:

[ages 9-12 & 13-17] Experience the empowering sensation of aerial arts in this camp for kids of all levels. Campers will practice on aerial rope, fabric, trapeze and sling with an emphasis on excellent technique and safety. Through careful progressions and building success one step at a time, this camp is designed to create success for all campers new to aerial arts or those continuing to develop their fundamentals. This camp integrates valuable cross-training in flexibility, conditioning and handstands to encourage proactive injury prevention and strength-building. Camp culminates in a group demonstration for family and friends at the end of the week. Full day camp with general Circus Arts and Aerial Specialization, includes Flying Trapeze for $540. Prerequisites: Enthusiasm for the aerial arts is the only prerequisite!

(Specialty) Advanced Aerial*:

[ages 13-17] More experienced youth aerialists will work with our coaches to move beyond tricks to create a short aerial choreography, accompanied by the sound track of their choice. We will focus on excellent technique and careful progressions that create success for everyone. Each day will close with cross-training in flexibility and conditioning to build strength and encourage active injury prevention. Camp culminates with students individually presenting their developed choreographies for family and friends. Full day camp with general Circus Arts and Aerial Specialization, includes Flying Trapeze for $540. Prerequisites: Completion of a session of Level 2 aerial class or instructor approval at the time of enrollment. Students younger than 13 years old will be accepted with coach approval.

Early Bird discount: $20 off each Summer Camp’s tuition for enrollments made through April 11th

Payment plan and scholarships are available. Please talk to our office staff about these options when you enroll your student. Our scholarship application can be found here. This form should only be completed after enrolling your student.

There is a registration fee of $15 per session. It is non-refundable.


SANCA Partnership Camp

Partner Camp: Take Center Ring with Seattle Children’s Theatre. (ages 8-11) Full-day (9am-4pm)

Run away to the circus with Seattle Children’s Theatre and the School of Acrobatics & New Circus Arts this summer! Experienced circus coaches will have you defying gravity as you try out juggling, tumbling, and flying trapeze, among many other circus skills. With your SCT physical comedy teaching artist, you will master the art of clowning by exaggerating characters and physicality in wacky bits, routines and scenes. In this camp all about movement and self-expression, class clowns will flourish and wallflowers will bloom. You don’t need to have experience in circus, gymnastics or acting, just a willingness to try out new skills.

Enroll through SANCA office. $425 until 4/11; $470 starting 4/12.
Seattle Children’s Theatre members receive a 5% discount on tuition. Office staff doing the enrolling should take down the family’s name and member number. 
Partner Camp: Center Ring Science with Pacific Science Center. Full-day camp; 9am-12pm occurs at SANCA

Pacific Science Center and School of Acrobatic & New Circus Arts (SANCA) are teaming up for a week of scientific exploration and creative movement through circus arts! Learn the basics of circus arts, catapult through the air like an acrobat, experience the elasticity of a trampoline and soar through the air on the flying trapeze. Build your mental strength, flexibility and understanding of physics. Come fly through this active week with us!

Transportation between locations is included.

Registration through Pacific Science Center.
$470 until 3/31; $500 starting 4/1 – for Pac Sci Members
$500 until 3/31; $530 starting 4/1 – for general public
