This review is for the flying trapeze class. My friends and I had an excellent time! We’ve done flying trap before at TSNY, so we were pleased to see that both schools have similar procedures (which made our ground school go fast).

I love that the facility is like a flying pirate ship. I wish I lived in Seattle so I can take (static) aerial class here.

Anyway, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable… and very accomplished! What I liked most about Emerald city was that the staff was good with time management. When the staff saw that you were ready, they started catching and once the catches were completed, we all got to learn the next trick. How awesome!

I’m from LA and I purchased a catch and release package. This is how much I like Emerald City.

We did a private group class here for a surprise birthday for a friend.  ECT was wonderful about organizing the class for us with multiple fantastic instructors to accommodate our big group of 16 people.  They got everyone up, flying and doing neat tricks.

They were great about catering to the individuals that had more experience so that they could move forward and do more advance moves, while also being incredibly compassionate and encouraging for the few that were hesitant with the height.

It was so much fun.  I was super impressed with the fantastic teachers!

My wife and I took a trapeze class here a few days ago and it was quite an awesome experience. Who wouldn’t love to learn how to swing upside down some thirty feet off the ground? The building itself has a very cool Shakespearean vibe, but that’s just the beginning. The instructors were all very helpful at keeping us not only safe but teaching us the basics so that by the end of the 2 hour lesson we were able to be caught mid-swing by another instructor–an experience everyone should have.

What I really like about ECTA is that they tailor the class to the level that you learn at. If you catch on quick, they don’t stunt your progress but rather teach you the next level of tricks. Similarly, if you are having trouble grasping the basics, the staff is very patient and helpful at getting you to a level where you can feel accomplished.

My wife and I enjoyed our class so much that we took immediately bought our next two lessons in advance. In addition, we noticed they were having a Halloween show later in the week, which we went to last night. Once again, we were profoundly impressed. The show ran about 1.5 hr. and the acts were great. The performers set the chilling mood with intricate costumes ranging from spike-haired demons to shirtless axe-murderers and then blew us away with well-choreographed acts. Needless to say, if anyone is looking to try something new or have a good night out, check out one of ECTA’s classes or upcoming shows.

“GO FOR IT! It’s a Blast!”

I was looking for something above and beyond the usual touristy stuff during our visit to Seattle and boy did THIS meet the bill. A class in Flying Trapeze? Really? WHY NOT!? This is not a gimmicky environment where you are on the ground most of the time and then get a token swing on the bar just so you can say you’ve done it. This is a serious school which trains people in flying trapeze. Yet….it’s cool in that anyone can sign up for a class, even just one 2 hour class, and be able to experience this very cool activity. You spend a very short time on the floor stretching, getting some ground rules and then a run through your first bar routine. Next thing you know, you are walking up the ladder to the high platform and away you go! Not just one or two times either. For as many turns as you can fit in within a 2 hour period. The smaller the class that day, the more times you walk up the ladder. And if you nail one exercise, you will advance to a new more advance skill. Basic athletic ability is a must. Fear of heights would be a problem. The three trainers/performers on site that guide and teach you are super patient and excellent at giving instruction. We both just loved it.

Just FYI….the drive to this location seemed a bit sketchy and was totally off the beaten path. It’s an entirely industrial area (factories & shipping yards) and I was sure I was on the wrong street at first, but I wasn’t. Overall it seemed very safe and there’s dedicated free parking behind the building. Just know that there is nothing else to do in this area or any decent places to eat close by. Also, bring only the minimum of stuff you need inside, but whatever you do bring is completely safe and on chairs or cubbies right next to you the whole time.
